Consultant IVF Anaesthesia

We are seeking a highly experienced Consultant Anaesthetist – IVF / Reproductive Medicine to join a leading healthcare institution in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in anaesthesia for fertility treatments and procedures, with a strong background in providing safe and effective perioperative care for patients undergoing assisted reproductive procedures.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing comprehensive anaesthesia services for IVF and fertility-related procedures, ensuring patient safety, effective pain management, and appropriate peri-procedural care. This position offers the opportunity to work within a progressive healthcare environment alongside fertility specialists, embryologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams

Medical/Hospital

Responsibilities

• Assess patients preoperatively and determine appropriate anaesthetic plans based on their medical history and clinical needs
• Provide anaesthesia and sedation for IVF and assisted reproductive procedures
• Provide anaesthetic care for procedures including oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, and other fertility-related interventions
• Monitor patients closely throughout procedures and ensure appropriate recovery following anaesthesia or sedation
• Manage airway, haemodynamic, and respiratory considerations during procedures
• Provide appropriate analgesia and peri-procedural pain management
• Identify and manage potential anaesthetic and procedural complications
• Evaluate patients for anaesthesia-related risks and optimize them prior to procedures
• Provide post-anaesthesia care and monitor patients during recovery
• Ensure appropriate selection and administration of anaesthetic and sedative medications
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborate closely with IVF specialists, reproductive medicine physicians, embryologists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, and service development initiatives
• Support teaching, training, and departmental education activities where required

Qualifications

• Board certification in Anaesthesiology / Anesthesiology or equivalent recognised qualification
• Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Anaesthesiology
• Experience providing anaesthesia or sedation for IVF, fertility, day-case, or outpatient procedures is highly desirable
• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP

• Strong knowledge of perioperative assessment and patient optimization
• Expertise in airway management and patient monitoring
• Strong knowledge of analgesia and peri-procedural pain management
• Ability to assess and manage anaesthetic risks and potential complications
• Strong clinical judgement and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary fertility and anaesthesia teams
• Strong commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement
