Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a leading healthcare institution in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic disorders, with strong experience in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing comprehensive gastroenterology care, including clinical assessment, disease management, endoscopy, and appropriate therapeutic interventions. This position offers the opportunity to work within a progressive healthcare environment alongside surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and multidisciplinary teams.

Skills Description

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions
  • Manage complex gastrointestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver disease, and functional GI disorders
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures
  • Perform upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, with advanced endoscopic procedures where appropriately qualified
  • Evaluate and manage hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders
  • Manage patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment, investigations, and evidence-based guidelines
  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-procedure patient care
  • Monitor treatment response and adjust management plans as appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical case discussions, and clinical governance activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and service development initiatives
  • Support teaching, training, and departmental education activities where required

Qualifications

  • Board certification in Internal Medicine with fellowship or subspecialty training in Gastroenterology
  • Recognised Tier 1 specialist qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, European Board, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Gastroenterology
  • Extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • Experience in managing complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic conditions
  • Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP

  • Strong experience in gastroscopy and colonoscopy
